Cornwall Celebrated in Two CTV Broadcasts
The best of Cornwall was celebrated by CTV in over 5 hours of live broadcast recently, prompting Mayor Bob Kilger to proclaim Wednesday, September 14 as “CTV Day in Cornwall”.
Over 1000 residents came out to watch the cast and crews of CTV Morning Live and CTV News at Six share their stories with hundreds of thousands of viewers across eastern Ontario and western Quebec.
“These broadcasts provide a great opportunity for us to highlight the many positive things that are happening in Cornwall,” said Mayor Bob Kilger. “The exposure is priceless.”
The day started off early with the popular CTV Morning Live program broadcasting from the St. Lawrence Power Development Visitor Centre. Over 20 local people joined hosts Kurt Stoodley, Lianne Lang and Jeff Hopper. Links to the many of the segments can be found on the ChooseCornwall YouTube Channel:

Later that day, an estimated crowd of 1,000 gathered in Lamoureux Park for the region’s top-rated News at Six program. Hosts Graham Richardson, Carol Anne Meehan, J.J. Clarke and Terry Marcotte interviewed Cornwall natives and Farm Boy owners Jean-Louis and Normand Bellemare, local radio host Sue Stewart and Mayor Bob Kilger. A number of other people had a chance to appear on air.
CTV staff remarked that the turnout for the Cornwall was the largest of any community visited on the Hometown Tour.
“People had a chance to see everything we do in front of and behind the cameras," said Louis Douville, Vice-President and General Manager, CTV Ottawa. "This tour allows us to connect with the people who invite us into their homes each and every night."
