Meet CTV Ottawa News Team on April 7
Team Cornwall will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, April 7, 2009 at 7:00 am, at Dream Builder Studios on Second Street West (near Power Dam Drive).
The theme of the meeting is “Leveraging the Media to Get Your Message Out”.
An Insider’s Look at CTV Ottawa
CTV Ottawa's News at 6 is the region's most popular TV news program - easily outdistancing its rivals and reaching hundreds of thousands of viewers throughout Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. The producers and journalists have made a commitment to covering news stories from Cornwall - and for that our City is better known throughout the region.
Long time news anchor Max Keeping recently delivered his last broadcast - and Graham Richardson will permanently join Carol-Anne Meehan behind the news desk. Graham, Carol-Anne and Max will deliver an informative session that will explore how a top-notch news team works - from the start of a story idea to broadcast. Attendees will get an insider's look at the following topics:
- Step-by-step process to getting a story on the air, especially in a large market
- Interview Time: What is the journalist expecting, and what makes a good interview?
- Do's and Don'ts in Dealing with the Media
- What changes are there in store for TV in a digital world?
The CTV Ottawa news crew will also take questions from the Team Cornwall audience during a Q + A on media relations.
“We have some great stories in Cornwall – stories about exceptional people and companies. Our local media do a great job in covering the story for the local populace, but rarely are our stories covered by media in large markets like Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto,” says Gilles Latour. “Team Cornwall’s mandate is to get the word out about Cornwall and using big market media to profile local success stories is one way that our members can achieve that goal.”
“I think it is fair to say that the average small business owner has a limited knowledge about how the media really works”, Mr. Latour added. “We think that CTV Ottawa’s presentation will help open doors and provide some hands on tips on how to handle media relations.”

This meeting will serve as Team Cornwall’s Annual General Meeting. Breakfast will be served at 7 am, and the meeting will run from 7:30am - 9am. As in past years, the Board of Directors (Team Captains) will be elected at the meeting.
