Small Business Month
October is Small Business month in the Province of Ontario. To celebrate, the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre is bringing a number of events throughout the month to the region’s business community.
“Small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs are key contributors to innovation, investment and job creation in Cornwall and region,” says Alyssa Blais, the Business Consultant in charge of the Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre.
Events for the month include:
Breakfast Connections – a seminar on networking: October 21
LEAP – a seminar on entrepreneurship: October 28
E-biz Boot Camp – a seminar on e-business: October 29
ARTpreneur 2009 – a conference for artists and creative entrepreneurs: November 05
Event registration is now open. A full list of speakers and additional information on all of these events can be found on the CBEC website: www.BusinessEntepriseCentre.ca Registration forms can be found at the Business Enterprise Centre (144 Pitt St., Cornwall). All area small business owners are welcome to attend the events listed above; however they must register in advance as space is limited.
Every October, the Ontario government recognizes the achievements of entrepreneurs and small businesses across the province. Ontario's small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) generate over $250 billion in economic activity annually. 99 per cent of Ontario firms are SMEs (less than 500 employees) and account for over 360,000 businesses and over half of the private sector jobs in the province.
The Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre is partnering with several local organizations to put on these events, including the Cornwall and Area Chamber of Commerce, Community Futures Development Corporation of S.D. & G., the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affaires, the City of Cornwall, the United Counties of S.D. & G., and the Eastern Ontario Training Board.
The Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre helps small business owners and entrepreneurs succeed in Cornwall and Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry by offering information, tools and support during their start-up and growth stages of business operation. The Centre also offers seminars, workshops and networking opportunities that are designed with the entrepreneur in mind.
The Cornwall Business Enterprise Centre is operated by Cornwall Economic Development in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
