Golf Tournament Sold Out
The Mayor/Coucil and Team Cornwall is sold out. We would like to thank everyone for their participation in this event, and we look forward to seeing you on the 16th.
The popular Mayor/Council and Team Cornwall Golf Tournament will be held on Wednesday, September 16th at Summerheights Golf Links.
“This will be the fifth year we have combined our two tournaments,” said Gilles Latour, Chair of Team Cornwall. “Almost every member of Council and senior City administration is a member of Team Cornwall, and this combined format has helped us to support more community activities over the years.”
“This year, half of the proceeds will be donated to 3 + 1 Project 2010 and half will go to offset the operating costs of Team Cornwall,” said Tournament Co-Chair Glen Grant, Councillor for the City of Cornwall. “The funds will be used to assist the 3 + 1 Project 2010 Committee meet their fundraising goal of $2,000,000 which will go towards the building of a multisport complex for the community consisting of three NHL sized rinks, a field house, and a tennis court.”
“Each year the proceeds from the tournament are split between Team Cornwall and a community project,” added Councillor Grant. “This format allows us to give back to the community, while at the same time help fund various Team Cornwall initiatives throughout the year.”
The Tournament attracts over 120 golfers to a day filled with sport, fun and networking. It is a fun day where the scores don’t really matter.
“Many golfers bring along people from outside the City as their guests,” said Gilles Latour. “It is an excellent way to introduce people to Cornwall, and we’re asking Team Cornwall members to once again make an effort to invite their clients, colleagues and customers to come down to Cornwall and see what we are all about.”
“On behalf of the 3+1 Project 2010 Fundraising team, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Team Cornwall for choosing to support this wonderful project.”, said Scott Lecky, President of the 3 + 1 Project 2010 Committee. “Sports facilities are an important piece of the puzzle of what makes a great community. In addition to generating a positive economic impact for Cornwall and the surrounding area, this new facility will encourage our citizens to maintain a healthy lifestyle, and most importantly, provide our youth with a ‘world of opportunities’ in athletics.”
Scotiabank is returning as the tournament’s major supporter. “We believe in the objectives of Team Cornwall and are happy to help out,” said Diane Dupuis, Manager of Customer Services at Scotiabank’s Brookdale Avenue branch. A variety of other local companies and organizations also support and sponsor the Tournament.
The tournament will feature a continental breakfast at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Four Person Best Ball Scramble format with a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m., and ending with a late afternoon buffet around 4:00 p.m. Registration fees are $125.00 per golfer, which includes breakfast, 18 holes, cart, lunch and a buffet meal.
