RBC Cup: How Cornwall Can Benefit
At the October 23rd general meeting of Team Cornwall, Rod Schaaf, RBC Regional President, Ontario North and East, spoke with local business leaders about the opportunity to boost local business through the 2008 RBC Cup. Schaaf demonstrated how local businesses and the Cornwall community can work together to spur the economic growth of the city.
“Business and community support is a key ingredient in a tournament like this,” said Schaaf. “In a thriving city like Cornwall, I have no doubts that the 2008 RBC Cup will be a huge success.”
Schaaf focused on teamwork and corporate responsibility during his presentation, stressing the importance of these values as foundations for the continued success of Cornwall as a business and tourist destination.
“Investing in the RBC Cup is a great way for businesses to demonstrate sound corporate responsibility,” said Schaaf. “It will enhance reputation, boost consumer loyalty and play a significant role in sustaining the growth and prosperity of Cornwall.”
Team Cornwall Chair Gilles Latour was equally enthusiastic about hosting the event. “The RBC Cup represents a golden opportunity for us to put the city of Cornwall on the local and national stage,” said Latour. “By producing a memorable tournament, we will showcase Cornwall as a dynamic and welcoming place to visit and do business in.”
The meeting also featured a presentation by local RBC Cup Chair Candy Pollard, who outlined the efforts made to secure the rights to host the Cup, the economic impact the city can expect, and opportunities for local sponsors.
"This is a community event. We can all enjoy it, and we can all benefit from it," said Pollard. "This is our opportunity to put the 'new' Cornwall on display for the rest of Canada."
Along with players and senior officials from the Cornwall Colts, officials from the Kemptville 73’s, Hawkesbury Hawks, Kanata Stallions, Pembroke Lumber Kings, Smith Falls Bears, Cumberland Grads and Nepean Raiders were also in attendance at the luncheon.
